ABOUT THE ARTIST
Although born and raised in Utah, my family moved there from Montana when my mother was pregnant with me, so I like to say I have the heart of a Montanan. It explains why I feel in love, spending occasional summers here with my grandparents as a child and why I moved here before I could legally drink.
I started making jewelry when I was 19. By happenstance, I was bored one day and picked up a beaded jewelry kit someone had given me once upon a time. I didn't like the designs, so I decided to try making something different. Something clicked. I looked up and realized four hours has passed and I felt...amazing and calm. I've been making jewelry ever since.
I got my degree in goldsmithing and jewelry design at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. then moved to Seattle, where I worked at Jared's, for a little over a year. I decided that career path was not for me and moved back to Montana. I ended up in Livingston, where I met my husband, Jeff (a local, local) born and raised in Livingston. An avid hunter. We have two beautiful boys, and a dog named Duke Genius (yes, he earned the middle name).
Jeff is the one that introduced me to hunting (the Other love of his life). I enjoy the outdoors and started incorporating some of its elements into my designs. This led to a natural progression into using the ivory my husband had just sitting around. I decided to start specializing in it.
I love being part of the stories. It feeds my designer soul. "This set was my first elk", "We went together", "A once in a lifetime hunt", "It was my last time", "I want her to be a part of it". These are just some of the things I've heard. I'm honored to be a part of it. That's why I do what I do.
